Fantasy Super Rugby Week 12: Don’t Touch, Pause, Engage.
Well, last week was PAINFUL. Byes, injuries and rotations. This week there’s a host of big names back, but still some of the same challenges around byes and injuries. Here’s our weekly list of transfer and line-up ideas.
Teams on a BYE: Brumbies, Reds, Sunwolves.
Teams with Tough Match-ups: Blues, Rebels, Lions, Hurricanes
Teams with Easy Match-ups: Waratahs then Bulls/Highlanders/Stormers
Injury Watch: check out the Fantasy XV Draft casualty ward.
ENGAGE (BUY)
Folau – the big man’s back, playing at 15, at home, against a poor Blues side. The Tahs also have a reasonable run in across their last 8 games, just the 3 in NZ might be a little painful. You could roll the dice and wait to bring Izzy in until week 16. But you might miss a big week this week.
Chiefs. Chiefs. Chiefs. Similar to last week, but from hold to buy, the Chiefs have got a nice looking run of 3 games. Alaimalo, Ardron, Cane.
Hurricanes – I’m still bringing in Hurricanes. No more byes this year, and some nice looking match-ups. Ardie came back on fire. Whilst he’s not getting the open field carries, his current value is great. Fatialofa seems to have replace Lousi and is a nice lock replacement at $115k. Take your pick from the backs.
Bulls – have a great run of games as well – Pollard / Kriel / Lood. Marnus Schoeman obviously plays for the Lions, he’s just listed as Bulls, but is starting this week and is a nice cheeky little bench player to play if you’ve got the likes of Pocock on a bye and don’t want to sub him out.
Genia / Pulu – SH has been a lottery since the big 3 got injured. Two of those are back this week. I’d pick Genia long term, as the Rebels have a MUCH easier run. Pulu might be marginally better this week. It’s close.
If you have had Codie like me, I feel this is week you need to get rid of him, Ricciteli is a great cheap option if you cant afford the mighty Marx, who is averaging over 25 points more than the number 2 hooker in the game.
Brodie Retallik rested… I kept him especially for this game and got rid McKenzie on the bye bec of his concussion… And guess who is starting this week and who is not??? I am thinking Fatialofa is a great cheap replacement option if you cant afford the likes of Mostert or Pieter Steff who is killing it!

PAUSE (HOLD)
Other Tahs – clearly the other Tahs are a good match-up this week. Foley is cheap as chips because he’s been kak, but is a good bench play this week. Naiyaravoro again is a good player to play from the bench. I’m sticking with them this week, but would ship out the marginal guys for the 3 Kiwi games.
Reds – with the Sunwolves the other side of their bye, hang onto Kerevi like your life depends on it. Same with Timu, Daugunu and Paenga-Amosa.
Sunwolves – have a couple of half decent match-ups post their bye, against the Reds and Stormers, so worth hanging onto the likes of Little and Saumaki.
I’m holding off bring Mo’unga straight back in. He’s solid, but I want to check he’s kicking, isn’t subbed off early, and I also like other FH’s like Willemse, Pollard, Beauden.
I agree with Feast keep Kerevi if you can.
Don’t get rid of Boden just yet and I think Jordie might be coming into some form after his performance last weekend.
DON’T TOUCH (SELL)
Now this is a BOLD call. But lets face it, the Blues are kak. They also have a tough run before their bye, away at the Tahs, then playing the Canes and Crusaders. You could look to trade out Reiko. He’s playing 12 again this week, where he does not look good, or get enough space. Laumape’s back, so you’ve got a natural swap into a player with much better upside longer term and no bye. I’d ditch the rest of the Blues, but keep hold of Akira in the short term.
Jags – if you’ve got any, they’re playing the chiefs then on a bye, so I’d ditch the likes of Creevy, Boffelli etc …
All Jag players as they face the Chiefs followed by a bye.
I would also look at selling Mataele as he cant get a start despite scoring loads of tries, his value will no doubt go down this week unless he comes on and scores which is a gamble even though he did so last week.
