Some massive points available last week. This week should be more of the same. Injuries or byes for big players at outside back, but outside of that hopefully this week managers have a little of flexibility in their changes:
Teams on a BYE: Bulls, Highlanders, Rebels
Teams with Tough Match-ups: Sharks & Stormers
Teams with Easy Match-ups: Chiefs, Waraths
Injury Watch: check out the Fantasy XV Draft casualty ward.
We nailed it last week with the Blues. Even though Perofeta was a complete liability for the Blues and I think cost them any chance of winning with some horrible game management and kicking, he racked up nice fantasy points, along with the Ioane’s and Moala. Manu was a bit naff due to all the penos.
If you had any sense you got in Hurricanes a couple of weeks ago, but if you missed the boat, Beauden is getting back into form. It’s a little concerning that they’re taking him off early as he missed the change for his last 5min intercept, but at $308k a bargain and someone to hold across the bye for the next 3 games at the very least.
For those looking for OBK options because of Folau’s injury and Naholo, Maddocks etc on a bye, then there are plenty this week.
Someone we missed last week because he has a tendency to drop the ball the whole time is Naiyaravoro, reasonable priced in the mid $200ks. You can make a case for anyone in the back-line of the Tah’s this week. Hegarty and Newsome being great cheap options if you need to free up money elsewhere.
McKenzie, Alaimalo, Pulu should all go well against a Blues side shipping 40 pts a game, and you can even jump on the Lam and Saumaki bandwagons.
It really comes down to how much money you’ve got to spend. Safest pick to pop in value the next couple of weeks is Lam. Safest pick from a points perspective is probably whichever Chiefs OBK you don’t already own.
Outside of that, try to hoover up some Hurricane squad players. They have a bye in the near term, but this week they are massive favourites and their three games are against sides that are averaging 45, 35 and 25 pts against respectively. You can pick any of their 7 highest average scorers and Lousi is still great value and Aso will definitely go off at some point.
Most of the Hurricanes, Laumape, Boden, Laumape and Ben Lam are all good solid buys. Ben Lam will go up in value even if he scores 1 point this weekend.
Hooper, I know he’s been a bit quiet but the Sunwolves fixture might just suit him as he loves to run with the ball in hand. Foley and Beale are worth looking at too especially Foley if the Tahs do well in this fixture.
Naivaro could be interesting, admittedly not great in defense but if he gets a lot of ball, he could do some serious damage to the Sunwolves.
Tahs – if you brought in Foley, Beale, Hoops past week then that burnt. Clearly you have to start them this week and hopefully the points this week even out last weeks crap out. Hold tight and have faith.
2 out of 3 of the bye teams: Highlanders – now I know I’ve been suggesting cashing in on highlanders the last couple of weeks. For Thompson is was a good shout as he’s puked value and there’s better scoring centres the last couple of weeks. For Naholo this week it would have burned. However, the Highlanders have a tasty run of 4 games after their buy, so Naholo, A Smith, Hemopo sit tight.
I’m 50:50 on the Rebels – they come off the bye with a nice match-up home against the Jags, but then start a tour in SA. That will be another real test, like the Hurricanes. Hold them if you can for next week, but don’t feel too bad if you’re a forced seller.
If you held the man then this week is back to KEREVI-TIME.
Naholo if you can as he’s bound to do well in the next few easier fixtures.
Mafi – This guy is a machine and in 40 minutes he made 45 points. I think if he had carried on playing the way he was in that match he may have even beaten Ben Lam’s score.
DON’T TOUCH (SELL)
Kwagga – does anyone else just think this guy’s had too much rugby ? He’s being forced to play most of the game around the breakdown, and it’s just physically killing him. Haven’t seen any of those trademark runs. Personally I’m now swapping him onto the bench because his value is so kak, but definitely not a first team starter. Outside of Mostert and Marx who are basically carrying the Lions so far, I’d ship Lions in favour of better options given their bye next week.
Kwagga for the same reasons as Feast, I just hope he doesn’t come good after I’ve got rid of him. He is on a bye the following week so I think now is the time to say goodbye as much as it pains me as I am a Huge Kwagga of 2017 fan.
With a few teams out now, there’s some interesting names. The only game I didn’t watch last week for the Brumbies vs Tahs. Pocock got 48. That is solid. He barely shifted in price, so is relatively cheap at $308k. Timu’s also in that same price brackett and has started to look like a mini Mafi in the last few games. Neither team had a particularly easy run of games, but both these guys should be solid picks.
There’s also a couple of interesting picks with the Sunwolves with managers who have some flexibility this week. Little is a nice little earner at FH, who’s playing centre, and has looked great. Himeno is playing 8, but listed as lock, so good value.
