Fantasy Super Rugby Week 1: Dream Team, Top Scorer, Unluckiest Pick, Poorest Pick and what did we learn?

SENTIMENT OF THE WEEK: BIG spending did not Equal BIG points.

The Dream Team Of Week 1 (940 Points):

  • Pierre Schoeman(BULLS) scoring 49
  • Pauliasi Manu (BLUES) scoring 39 points

  • Ricky Ricciteli(HUR) scoring 59 points

  • Will Skelton(TAHS) scoring 52 points
  • Michael Fatialofa(HUR) scoring 52 points

  • Hanro Liebenberg (BULLS) scoring 65 points
  • Leonardo Senatore (JAGS) scoring 62 points
  • Scott Higginbotham (REDS) scoring 58 points

  • Piet Van Zyl (BULLS) scoring 45 points
  • Augustine Pulu(BLU) scoring 41 points

  • Fred Zeilinga (CHEE) scoring 45 points

           INSIDE BACKS:

  • Vince Aso (HUR)scoring 83 points
  • Ngani Laumape (HUR) scoring 79 points

  • Joaquin Tuculet(JAG) scoring 74 points
  • Waisake Naholo(CHI)scoring 71 points
  • Julian Savea (HUR)scoring 66 points

TOP SCORER – Vince Aso the top point scorer, who would have thought?

  1. Ben Smith(HIGH) – injured so early in the match.
  2. Cory Jane(HUR) – injured in the warm-up, 0 points, Aso was then moved to the wing.

What has round 1 taught us:

  1. McKensie(CHIEFS) was not a banker.
  1. Beauden Barrett(HUR) and Dane Coles(HUR) not starting was a great opportunity to pick Ricky Ricciteli and Otere Black instead. This would have made you a great cash return of 106K.
  1. Izzy only made 3 points, I know, right? 3 freakin points and lost 100K, WHAT THE £$%^&*(!!!!
  1. The loss of Pisi has really taken its toll on The Sunwolves… I honestly can’t decide who will be worse off between them and The Kings. One thing is for sure they are going to struggle.
  1. The Lions tour is going to involve resting a lot of The All Blacks during the season. Picking them is dangerous but if they start, not picking them is even more dangerous.
  1. Always and I mean always check the starting line-ups. The introduction of a Thursday game did fantasy rugby players no favours as most the teams are announced on Thursdays.
  1. Will Skelton can now play for 70 minutes after his stint in the Northern Hemisphere and is looking as lean as a man mountain can be.
  1. The Top scoring centres scored more points than the OBKs.
  1. Lastly losing Schalk Burger was huge but The Stormers still have a great mixture of experience and new talent. Some of the players really stood up to the Bulls, none more so that Siya Kolisi. Take a bow!
